Overview#

Bare Bones is a simple 16x resource pack that strips Minecraft back to its "bare bones" while keeping the bright, colourful look of the official Minecraft trailers and cinematic artwork.

Instead of adding extra detail, it removes visual noise: textures become flatter and cleaner, colours become bolder, and the whole world takes on a friendly, stylised feel. It is a pure texture pack, so there is nothing to install besides the pack itself and it makes no gameplay changes.

The Trailer Look#

The pack is built to match the way Minecraft appears in Mojang's promotional trailers and renders:

  • Flat, solid colours on grass, dirt, stone and wood.
  • Very little surface noise, so large builds stay crisp and easy to read.
  • Vivid, saturated tones that make flowers, ores and foliage pop.
  • A soft, cartoon-like charm at the standard 16x resolution.

Every block and item stays instantly recognisable - it is the same Minecraft, just cleaner and more colourful.

What It Retextures#

Bare Bones is a complete pack that covers the whole game, not just a few blocks:

Area Restyled
Blocks Terrain, ores, wood, stone, plants and decoration
Items Tools, food, materials and other items
Entities Mobs and their equipment textures
GUI Menus, inventories and HUD elements

Because it is updated for Minecraft 26.2, the newest blocks and items display in the Bare Bones style instead of falling back to a mismatched default texture.

Installing the Pack#

  1. Download the pack .zip file.
  2. Place the .zip into your .minecraft/resourcepacks folder (do not unzip it).
  3. Launch Minecraft and open Options -> Resource Packs.
  4. Move Bare Bones from the left (available) list to the right (selected) list.
  5. Click Done. The whole game now uses the Bare Bones textures.

The pack can be turned on or off at any time from the same screen, and removing it simply restores the default look.

Notes#

  • Bare Bones is a 16x pack, so it stays lightweight and runs well on any setup.
  • It is textures only - no mods, loaders or extra dependencies are required.
  • It works in singleplayer and on any server, since resource packs are applied on your own client.
  • Any brand-new block or item that is not yet covered will simply use its default texture until the pack is updated.
