Bosses of Mass Destruction Wiki

A guide to Bosses of Mass Destruction: the four handcrafted bosses it adds, how to find or summon each one, the gear they drop, and how to tune the fights through the config.

Overview#

Bosses of Mass Destruction adds a small set of high-threat bosses that are each built to be a real event rather than just a bigger mob. Every boss has its own arena feel, its own attack patterns and its own set of rewards, so beating one is meant to be a milestone in a world.

The mod focuses on quality over quantity: instead of dozens of enemies, it gives you four distinct fights, each with custom models, animations and a health bar of its own. They are spread across different environments, so tracking them all down encourages you to travel and prepare properly.

The Bosses#

  • The Gauntlet – a giant floating fist that guards the Nether. It hovers and slams, launches homing projectiles and can shield itself, making it a test of movement and timing.
  • The Obsidilith – an ancient obsidian monolith found in the End. It fights defensively with shockwaves, rising spikes, anvil-like slams and protective pillars, punishing players who stand still.
  • The Void Blossom – an enormous hostile flower rooted in the lush depths. It summons petal blades and spore attacks and heals itself if you give it time, so it rewards aggression.
  • The Night Lich – a floating undead sorcerer summoned by the player. It teleports, throws barrages of projectiles and calls in support, serving as the mod's most involved fight.

Where to Find and How to Summon#

  • The Gauntlet appears in the Nether. Explore the wastes and blackstone areas and you will eventually run into it patrolling the air.
  • The Obsidilith waits on the outer End islands. Once you have reached the End and travelled past the central island, look for its dark monolith.
  • The Void Blossom lives deep underground in lush cave regions. Bring light and mobility – the arena is easy to fall out of.
  • The Night Lich is summoned rather than found. Craft a Soul Star and use it in a suitable open area to call the Lich to you, which lets you take the fight on your own terms.

Items and Rewards#

Each boss drops themed gear and materials that make the next fight easier or open up new options:

  • Blazing Eye – a Gauntlet-themed item used in crafting and effects.
  • Earthdive Spear – a throwable spear tied to the Gauntlet that rewards precise aim.
  • Obsidian Heart – a powerful trophy from the Obsidilith.
  • Void Thorn and Crystal Fruit – rewards connected to the Void Blossom.
  • Soul Star – the key used to summon the Night Lich.
  • Ancient Anima, Brimstone Nectar and Charged Ender Pearl – supporting materials and utility items used across recipes and abilities.

Configuration#

The mod ships with a configuration screen that lets you tailor the fights to your world. Common options include boss health and damage, experience and loot amounts, and whether certain world-changing effects (such as terrain reshaping on death) are enabled.

If you play on a modpack or a server where the default numbers feel too high or too low, adjusting these values is the recommended way to balance the bosses for your group.

Tips#

  • Prepare before each fight: bring healing, good armour and ranged options, because every boss can punish you at range as well as up close.
  • Keep moving. Most of the bosses reward mobility and positioning far more than tanking hits in place.
  • Do not stand still against the Obsidilith – its ground attacks are designed to catch players who stop.
  • Play aggressively against the Void Blossom so it does not out-heal your damage.
  • Choose your ground for the Night Lich by summoning it somewhere open, so you have room to dodge its projectiles.
