Herds Panic Mod (1.20.1, 1.19.3) introduces a new feature that was heavily inspired by the real-world interaction between animals within a herd. Interacting with animals is rather weird in Minecraft as they often react to damage fairly late, therefore breaking players’ immersion in the world. While these animals often follow together in a herd, they are careless whenever one of their family members gets attacked. This flaw is rather minor, yet it does take the realism out of the game. With Herds Panic, surrounding animals will be startled if an animal within that range is attacked. Subsequently, all of them will be running rampantly and create chaos around the area. Indeed, such chaos will hinder players’ efforts to control a large number of animals, yet, it will add a layer of realism that Minecraft never had before.
