Pandora’s Box Mod (1.21.11, 1.20.1) – Gamble Your World for Great Rewards

Pandora’s Box Mod adds a mysterious item to the game that can be either a great reward or a big problem. You can find these boxes in dungeon chests or craft them yourself if you have the right materials. Opening a box is a gamble; it might give you valuable items and resources, or it could unleash dangerous traps that can hurt or even kill you.

Lore:

When Prometheus stole the fire from heaven, Zeus swore vengeance and planned a horrible punishment. He made Hephaestus create a woman (the first woman on earth), and the gods gave her many gifts: She was made beautiful, given musical talent, speech, and was clothed. He presented her to Epimetheus (Prometheus’s brother), who promptly fell in love and married her. Zeus, though, gave her the box as a wedding gift, and told her not to open it, ever.

She couldn’t overcome her curiosity, and thus the first thing she did after the wedding was open the box. The box contained all evil imaginable, and started releasing it, spreading it over the whole world. She hastened to close it, but it was already too late: Almost all of it had already exited its former container. The world became unbearably bad for the humans, who had never known pain before. At last, though, they reopened the box, and thus released the one last thing trapped inside: Hope.

Some say the hope was Zeus taking pity on the humans, and giving them the strength to go on. Others say hope is the worst of them all, for it makes one persevere through all the malady and pain without a second thought, even whilst no shred of release is in sight. Take from it whatever you might, but keep in mind: Do not open the box, for it may contain grief beyond your wildest imaginations.

Features:

• Adds a new item, Pandora’s Box, which you can craft or find in dungeons.
• Opening a box triggers a random event, which can be either good or bad.
• Possible rewards include valuable minerals, useful materials, and other helpful items.
• Negative effects can be anything from simple traps to events that might destroy the area or harm your character.
• Boxes can also spawn in special structures if you have the Recurrent Complex mod installed.

Commands:

Use the /pandora command to trigger any effect you want. You can also add arguments to change how the effects work. This command can be used in command blocks by targeting the nearest player with player=@p.

To see a list of all possible effects, type /pandora effect= and press the Tab key for auto-completion.

Examples:

/pandora player=APlayerName
//Activates a random effect on the specified player. If no name is given, it targets you.

/pandora effect=inTheEnd
//Transforms the land around you into The End biome.

/pandora player=APlayerName effect=epicThing
//Gives the specified player enchanted and possibly named items.

/pandora effect=worldSnake invisible=true
//Makes a snake of blocks fly through the air and hides the box that spawned it.
