Pick Your Poison Mod (1.20.1, 1.19.2) – Poison Dart Frogs

Pick Your Poison Mod adds poison dart frogs in jungles, new effects obtained from these frogs and a new weapon: poison darts.

Features:

Poison Dart Frogs

• Spawn in several variants in jungle biomes.
• Can be picked up using a bowl.
• Hitting or licking a frog gives the player its specific effect.
• Licking is done by “eating” the frog in a bowl; the frog is not consumed.
• You cannot lick a frog while already under its effect.
• Frogs are immune to their own effects.
• Place a picked up frog back down by sneaking and right-clicking.

Advancements

• Taste Test – Lick a poison dart frog in a bowl.
• Taste The Rainbow – Have all poison dart frog effects active at once (Luxalamander excluded).

Poison Dart Frog Types & Effects

• Blue Poison Dart Frog
  • Gives Comatose for 20 seconds.
  • Player cannot move, see, pause, or open inventory until it ends or they are attacked.
  • Regenerates some health during the effect.
  • The first damage taken while comatosed is negated.
• Golden Poison Dart Frog
  • Gives Batrachotoxin for 30 seconds.
  • Stronger than vanilla poison and ignores protection enchantments.
• Green Poison Dart Frog
  • Gives Numbness for 20 seconds.
  • Prevents all damage while active.
  • All stored damage is applied at once when it ends.
  • Cannot be bypassed with milk or commands.
• Orange Poison Dart Frog
  • Gives Vulnerability for 30 seconds.
  • Players take increased damage, opposite of Resistance.
• Crimson Poison Dart Frog
  • Gives Torpor for 30 seconds.
  • Blocks all health regeneration.
  • Slowly refills hunger instead.
• Red Poison Dart Frog
  • Gives Stimulation for 20 seconds.
  • Increases movement speed.
  • Removes the normal sprint hunger requirement.
  • Losing hunger while stimulated deals 1 heart of damage per half hunger point lost.
• Luxalamander
  • Very rare spawn (about 1 in 100 frogs).
  • Reference to texture artist Luxintrus.
  • Licking or hitting it angers the frog, “punching” the player’s eyes.
  • Inflicts Blindness for 1 minute.
  • Blindness can also be applied to a poison dart.
• Rana Frog
  • Obtained by renaming any Poison Dart Frog to “Rana” with a Name Tag.
  • Has no poison effect.
  • Cannot coat Throwing Darts.
  • Cannot be converted back to a normal Poison Dart Frog.

Throwing Darts

• Craft 4 Throwing Darts with:
  • 1 Iron Nugget
  • 1 Bamboo
  • 1 Feather
• Stackable and thrown by hand, dealing fist-like damage and knockback.
• Use on a placed frog to imbue the dart with that frog’s poison.
• Imbued poison darts apply their effect on hit for a short duration.
• Imbued Poison Darts are not stackable.

Supporter Feature

• Supporters can wear Poison Dart Frog bowls on their head.
• Compatible with the Trinkets mod for an extra slot.
