Water Strainer Mod (1.19.4, 1.18.2) – Let Water Do the Gathering

Water Strainer Mod lets you filter water to get common resources automatically. You just place a strainer in water, and it will catch items like sand, gravel, sticks, and clay over time. These strainers can break, but you can craft them from stronger materials to make them last longer. The mod also has a system where water flow, height, and the biome you are in can change how well the strainer works. It’s a great way to gather items while you are busy with other things, and it is also useful for skyblock maps.

Features:

Strainer Types

• Survivalist’s Strainer: Catches general items like sand, gravel, sticks, clay, stone, and planks. It also comes in a wide version for big items and a tight version for small items.
• Fisherman’s Strainer: Catches fish, junk, and treasure, similar to a fishing rod.

Durability and Operation

• A Strainer Base tries to catch an item every 25-35 seconds by default.
• Each time an item is caught, the strainer inside loses one durability point.
• Strainers come in different tiers, which only affects how long they last, not their catch rate.
• Normal: 120 durability (lasts about 1 hour).
• Solid: 720 durability (lasts about 6 hours).
• Reinforced: 5760 durability (lasts about 2 days).

Efficiency System

• The placement of your strainer affects how fast it works. You can craft an Efficiency Meter to see the exact percentage.
• Flowing water increases efficiency by 10% compared to still water.
• The farther your strainer is from the water source block, the lower its efficiency.
• Placing Strainer Bases right next to each other will lower their efficiency by 15% each. Leave a one-block gap between them for best results.
• Building in certain biomes gives a bonus: +10% in Oceans, +15% in Beaches, and +20% in Rivers.

Loot Table Customization

You can change what items the strainers can find by editing the config file located at config/waterstrainer/waterstrainer_loottable.cfg.

The format for adding items is:

strainer_name | CATEGORY | modid:item_name | metadata | quantity | rarity

• A higher rarity number means a higher chance of finding the item.
• You can add items from other mods to the loot table.
• To find an item’s name and ID, you can press F3+H in-game to show advanced tooltips.

Automation

The Strainer Base is designed for automation. You can use hoppers or item pipes to interact with it:

• Insert new strainers or bait into the side of the Strainer Base.
• Extract the collected items from the bottom of the Strainer Base.

How to Use:

1. Craft a Strainer Base.
2. Craft any type of strainer you want to use.
3. Place the Strainer Base in a pool of water. Make sure there is water on top of it.
4. Right-click the Strainer Base to open its inventory and place your strainer inside.
5. The strainer will start to automatically filter items from the water. You can collect them from the Strainer Base’s inventory.
