Minecraft 1.21.9 Official Download, titled The Copper Age, has been released. The most talked-about features in this version are the Copper Golem (which lost in the Minecraft Live 2021 mob vote but has now been brought back by Mojang), the Copper Gear system (armor, tools, and weapons made of copper), the new Copper Chest, and the new Shelf block. In addition, this version also introduces Mannequins, which have been highly anticipated. Beyond these, there are also many command and gameplay changes waiting for you to explore.

Features:

Copper Golem

  • Summoned by placing a Carved Pumpkin or Jack o’Lantern on a Copper Block.
  • Oxidizes over time like copper blocks, can be waxed to stop oxidization.
  • Acts as a helper: picks items from Copper Chests and deposits them into normal Chests.
  • If empty-handed, it searches nearby Copper Chests for items and takes up to 16 of the same item.
  • If holding items, it searches for Chests that can accept them. It waits 7 seconds before retrying if none are found.
  • Range: about 32 blocks horizontally, 8 vertically. It can check up to 10 chests in sequence.
  • Fully oxidized and unwaxed golems turn into Copper Golem Statues, dropping items they held.
  • Right-clicking with empty hand makes it drop items. Iron Golems may place a flower on Copper Golems.

Copper Golem Statue

  • Decorative block with waxed and oxidized variants.
  • Can revert to Copper Golem when scraped with an axe (if not oxidized).
  • Has four poses: standing, sitting, running, star; can be cycled by interaction.

Copper Chest

  • A new chest variant themed with copper, supporting waxed/oxidized states.
  • Copper Golems prioritize Copper Chests for picking items.

Copper Equipment

  • Copper Nugget added.
  • Full Copper Armor set: helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots. Stronger than leather, weaker than iron.
  • Copper Tools and Weapons: sword, pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe. Comparable to stone in damage, but more durable.
  • Designed as mid-early game gear: more durable than stone/leather, less effective than iron. Slightly lower enchantability than iron.

Shelf

  • New Shelf block for displaying or storing items, useful for decoration and quick access.

Mannequin changes

  • Updates to mannequin behavior, UI, and animations.
  • Improved compatibility with copper equipment and statues.

Copper Decorations

  • Additional copper-based building elements (chains, bars, lanterns, etc.), with waxed/oxidized variants.
  • Expands decorative options, especially fitting for industrial/steampunk builds.

Quality of Life Improvements

  • Chat Drafts: save unsent chat messages.
  • Sound Slider Previews: preview sounds while adjusting options.
  • Light flashes in The End: new visual effects in The End dimension.

Server and Moderation

  • Introduces Minecraft Server Management Protocol (MSMP).
  • Allows servers to display Code of Conduct content in-game.

Language Support

  • Added support for Halychian language in the UI.

Pre-release Notes

  • Multiple pre-releases fixed Copper Golem bugs and performance issues.
  • Severe lag issues with golems checking chests were resolved before final release.

  • To install the Official Release, open up the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots in the “Launch Options” tab.
