Land claiming and defense for multiplayer worlds come from Security Protection Blocks, an add-on that stops other players from building, breaking or looting inside your claimed area. It uses scripting APIs, so Experimental Features must be enabled, and it suits servers and any shared world where griefing and theft are a worry.

New players receive a free 11×11 protection block and a guide. Protection blocks can be upgraded to cover 11×11, 21×21 or 31×31 zones. A friend system changes the block to redstone, so others can right-click to join its whitelist, and each block keeps its own list. You can also name blocks with a name tag, and the Iron Turret actively defends protected zones.
