Lava Monsters Mod adds a new hostile creature that lives in lava. If you feel that mining deep underground becomes too safe, this mod brings back the challenge. These monsters spawn in lava pools in both the Overworld and the Nether, and they will attack you on sight by spitting fireballs. This makes lava a real threat again instead of just a barrier.

Lava Monsters Mod

Features:

  • Adds a new hostile mob, the Lava Monster, that spawns in pools of lava.
  • Attacks players from a distance by spitting fireballs, similar to a Blaze.
  • Leaves a trail of fire on solid ground when it walks.
  • Is weak to water and will die if it comes into contact with it.
  • By default, it only spawns in lava that is at least two blocks deep and contains a source block.
  • The mob’s spawning conditions can be fully customized.

Configuration:

The mod creates a properties file where you can change the Lava Monster’s spawning rules:

  • Nether Spawning: You can completely disable the monsters from spawning in the Nether.
  • Depth Hazard Mode: This setting makes them only appear below layer 16, preventing them from spawning in surface lava pools or constructions.
  • Flowing Lava Mode: Allows the monsters to spawn in flowing lava, not just source blocks.
  • Shallow Lava Mode: Lets monsters spawn in lava that is only one block deep, which is common in player-made moats.
  • Spawn Frequency: You can control how often the game attempts to spawn a Lava Monster, affecting their rarity.
