The Gigalanterns Data Pack is a small data pack aims to improve the functions of lanterns in Minecraft by adds a new item for the player to craft – The Gigalantern. The current lanterns in Minecraft are only blocks that emit light and melt snow so you can use it for mining, exploring or basic decoration. But the Gigalanterns not only can do that but also prevent mobs from spawning in a certain radius around them. Now you can set up a mob spawning-free -zone around your house for extra protection.

How to Use:

  • Requirement: The Gigalanterns must be placed on a block.
  • The lantern prevents mob spawning for 64 blocks radius surrounding the lantern.
  • It is crafted with two diamond blocks and one gold block
  • The Gigalanterns have its own effect.
  • Use /function gigalantern:uninstall Will remove all gigalanterns from your world, replacing them with regular lanterns.
  • Renaming the egg will not let you spawn a lantern (for compatibility with other data packs).
  • If you are using this data pack in 1.14.2, there’s no need to unzip the file.

How to Install:

  1. Download the data pack from the link below.
  2. Launch Minecraft. At the main menu, choose Singleplayer.
  3. Select the world you want to install this data pack, then click on Edit button at the bottom of the screen. Choose Open World Folder. A window will pop out — open data packs folder. Now you should drop the data pack compressed file you have just downloaded into that folder.
  4. Right click the data pack Zip file and press Extract here.
  5. Back to the game, press Save to complete.
  6. Enter the world and enjoy it. If you didn’t get the installation message, run the command /reload. If you cannot use /reload command, you should create a new world.
