This Minecraft tutorial explains how to craft a honey bottle with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.

In Minecraft, a honey bottle is one of the many food items that you can make. When you eat the honey from a honey bottle, it will replenish your food meter.

Let’s explore how to make a honey bottle.

Where to find a Honey Bottle in Creative Mode

Minecraft Java Edition (PC/Mac)

Here is where you can find a honey bottle in the Creative Inventory menu:

Platform Version(s) Creative Menu Location
Java Edition (PC/Mac) 1.15 – 1.19
Java Edition (PC/Mac) 1.19.3 – 1.20
  • Platform is the platform that applies.
  • Version(s) is the Minecraft version numbers where the item can be found in the menu location listed (we have tested and confirmed this version number).
  • Creative Menu Location is the location of the item in the Creative Inventory menu.

How to get a Honey Bottle in Survival Mode

You can add a honey bottle to your inventory in Survival mode by finding a bee nest filled with honey and gathering the honey from it using a bottle. So, let’s get started!

1. Find a Bee Nest

First, you need to find a bee nest in your Minecraft world. A bee nest is usually found in the Plains, Flower Forest or Sunflower Plains biomes.

The bee nest will either be hanging from an oak tree or a birch tree:

2. Hold the Glass Bottle

Next, select your glass bottle in the hotbar so that you are holding it in your hand.

3. Fill the Bottle with Honey

As the bees (carrying pollen) enter the bee nest, the honey level of the bee nest will increase. Once the bee nest is full of honey, you will see the honey dripping from the holes. Now it is time to use the bottle to gather the honey from the bee nest.

While standing in front of the bee nest, scoop the honey out of the bee nest with the bottle. The game control to collect the honey in the bottle depends on the version of Minecraft:

  • For Java Edition (PC/Mac), right click on the bee nest.
  • For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap on the bee nest.
  • For Xbox One, press the LT button on the Xbox controller.
  • For PS4, press the L2 button on the PS controller.
  • For Nintendo Switch, press the ZL button on the controller.
  • For Windows 10 Edition, right click on the bee nest.
  • For Education Edition, right click on the bee nest.

You will see the message “Honey Bottle” appear on the screen and your bottle will turn yellowish-orange because it is now filled with honey.

TIP: When you use the bottle to gather the honey, you will anger one of the bees and it will attack and sting you (giving you the Poison effect).

Congratulations, you have made a honey bottle in Minecraft!

In Minecraft, a honey bottle has the following Name, ID and DataValue:
