Ever looking for an addon that adds vanilla-styled vehicles to Minecraft? And all you find is some weird modern cars addon? No worries! Here at Random Kerbal’s Institute, we have the solution for you (probably not the best…but anyway)! MineCars Addon (1.20, 1.19) adds vanilla-styled vehicles to Minecraft (not “minecarts”).

Features:

100% Survival-friendly!

The author had spent over half a year working on this to ensure that: every little aspect (from visuals to functionalities) are contemplated, none of the “bugs” become “features”, have a code that is as optimised as possible, as well as to provide a pleasing experience for the users. Please enjoy!

This high-quality addon adds 7 new vehicles as well as 7 wagons for more customisation:

MineCars:

  • Default Minecar
  • Lantern Minecar
  • Spike-shovel Minecar (2 Upgrades: Fire Aspect, Infused Star)
  • Chest Minecar
  • Drill Minecar (2 Upgrades: Diamond Boi, Netherite Boi)
  • Shooter Minecar
  • Soul Lantern Minecar
  • (& more in the future?)

They may look like minecarts, but they are fuel-powered and can move without rails!

General Information (applied to all minecars):

Can be fuelled/refuelled by crouching and interacting with a combustible item:

More condensed fuel sources (coal block/lava/kelp block) power the vehicle longer, while lighter fuel sources (coal item/blaze powder/wood) power the vehicle for a shorter time.

  • can be repaired by iron ingots
  • can be picked up by punching it while sneaking
  • can be boosted for 3 seconds using firework
  • can be leashed (in case u ran out of fuel)
  • can pull vanilla Minecarts
  • tilt according to the terrain steepness!

  • special breaking animation!

Default MineCar (name: Reliant)

  • Father of all minecars

Recipe:

  • 1x lever
  • 1x leather
  • 1x minecart
  • 1x blast furnace

Lantern MineCar (name: Lumine)

  • has custom-made dynamic lighting!
  • lantern can be turned on/off (by crouching while interacting)

  • best for scouting missions!

Recipe:

  • 1x lantern
  • 1x chain
  • 1x Minecar

Tired of the boring Lantern Minecar?

Introducing its companion:

Soul Lantern MineCar (name: Spirit)

  • scare away piglins!

  • absorb the soul of mobs (except player) within a 3 block radius and give them weakness II

*custom soul absorbing particle*

  • has soul speed enchantment on wheels, it doesn’t get slowed down by soul sand like other vehicles!
  • can be enchanted with a lingering potion to grant the effect to all players within a 3 block radius

All available Effects:

  • Fire Resistance
  • Invisibility
  • Jump Boost
  • Night Vision
  • Poison (shh…it’s for trolling players!)
  • Regeneration
  • Resistance
  • Slow Falling
  • Slowness
  • Speed
  • Strength
  • Water Breathing
  • Weakness (shh…this one too)

Example with a Regeneration lingering potion

Spike-shovel MineCar (name: Rammer)

Note: This Minecar has been REMADE completely and is now a new entity. This is due to the deprecation of Molang Filter “is_moving” (imagine it as a lego brick in the code) in Minecraft versions 1.17 and up, which is used by the original Rammer to test whether it is moving to activate the ramming functionality. This bug has been fixed in MC version 1.19 though. The original version can still be summoned via COMMAND [mc:minecar_rammer2] and now works properly if you want to try!

  • has a spikey shovel for damaging mobs (2 hearts per tick)
  • mobs can get stuck onto the shovel when you’re ramming at your victim (and take constant damage)!
  • mobs will leave a bloodstain, which can be washed off by driving into water or rain

Upgrades:
Fire Aspect Upgrade (Tier1)

ABLAZE!

  • second compound entity
  • deals 6 points of damage + set mobs on fire!
  • damage will penetrate entity armor

Recipe:

You will need to craft a firey spike shovel first:

Then combine it with a minecar:

Infused Star Upgrade (Tier 2)

The most OP thing ever existed…

  • knock mobs 10+ blocks away!
  • deals 20 points of damage (kills player in one hit)!
  • summons a trail of lightning in the direction of the victim!
  • lightning strike has a 5 seconds cooldown
  • damage will penetrate entity armor!
  • immune to all damage when ramming!
  • try fighting the Warden!

POV: You’re the victim

Recipe:

You will need to craft a nether star spike shovel first:

Then combine it with a minecar:

How to upgrade:

  • Step1: Use any hoe to interact and tear off the existing tool from a minecar.
  • Step2: Sneak and punch the minecar to pick it up.
  • Step3: Upgrade the tool in a crafting table.
  • Step4: Combine the upgraded tool with a default minecar in the crafting table.

*It is not wise to ram creepers!*

Recipe:

You will need to craft a spikey shovel first:

Or

Or

Then combine it with a minecar:

Chest MineCar (name: Chestnut)

Yes, and it opens!

  • has a CHEST(nut), no big deal.
  • has the inventory of a chest
  • inventory cannot be sieved by hoppers
  • better than donkeys!

Recipe:

  • 3x iron nugget
  • 1x chest(nut)
  • 1x Minecar

Drill MineCar (name: Groundbreaker)

  • has a bulky drill for mining
  • blocks that DO NOT generate naturally (eg: crafting table, stairs, iron block) have been intentionally made unbreakable!
  • come with DYNAMIC LIGHTING!
  • drill can be turned on/off
  • best for mining expeditions!

Upgrades:

Default (Tier 0):

  • breaks 2×2 hole
  • hard blocks (stone, blackstone) are mined slower than soft blocks (dirt, gravel)
  • cannot break extremely hard blocks (obsidian, end stone, deepslate)
  • can hurt mobs (2 hearts per tick)
  • has a cooldown for 5 seconds after mining hard blocks for about 12 seconds (the most complex feature yet)

Recipe:

You will need to craft a drill head first:

Then combine it with a minecar:

Diamond Boi Upgrade (Tier 1)

  • breaks 2×2 hole
  • mine hard blocks faster
  • can break deepslate & endstone, but not extremely hard blocks like obsidian
  • can hurt mobs (3 hearts per tick)
  • also has a cooldown

Recipe:

You will need to craft a diamond drill head first:

Then combine it with a minecar:

Netherite Boi Upgrade (Tier 2)

Cool aura, huh?

  • breaks 3×3 hole
  • breaks blocks fast, no cooldown!
  • breaks even the hardest blocks like Obsidian (beware of your portals though…)
  • fire immune!
  • smelt ores & stones automatically!
  • comes with fortune enchantment! (drop more ores)
  • has an armor that reduces all damage by 10%!
  • can be repaired by netherite ingot (heals more than iron ingot)
  • can hurt mobs (3.5 hearts per tick)

Recipe:

You will need to craft a netherite drill superstructure first:

Then combine it with a minecar:

How to upgrade:

  • Step1: Use any hoe to interact and tear off the existing tool from a minecar.
  • Step2: Sneak and punch the minecar to pick it up.
  • Step3: Upgrade the tool in a crafting table.
  • Step4: Combine the upgraded tool with a default minecar in the crafting table.

Shooter MineCar (name: Blaster)

  • a “compound entity” (two entities attached together to act as one). This will create some possible bugs, including player sitting on the wrong sit if the riding entity failed to spawn, as well as not being able to go through portals
  • has a big boi gun
  • you need to load it with ammunitions first (otherwise it’s useless)
  • ammunitions can be retrieved by interacting with an empty hand, or “pick up” the car

loading ammo…

retrieving ammo…
Ammunitions Available:

  • 1. Arrow (the vanilla one)
  • 2. Fire Charge (finally not useless anymore)
  • 3. Cannonball

  • 4. Missile

The ammunitions you loaded decide its mode
Different Modes:

Mode1: Multishot Triple-Arrows

  • use Arrow Ammunitions
  • cheap and versatile

Mode2: Flamethrower

  • use Fire Charge Ammunitions

Never use this mode in a forest…

Mode3: Cannonball

  • use Cannonball Ammunitions
  • can destroy your terrain, like TNT (here I disabled Mob Griefing)

Mode4: Missile

  • use Missile Ammunitions
  • like cannonball but your terrain is safe!

Recipe:

You will need to craft the gun first:

Then combine it with a minecar:

Changes to Vanilla Recipe:

The recipe of Minecart is also changed to be more logical. Now you need to first craft a set of wheels:

Then, put the materials as follow:

The Wagons:

If you want more functionalities for your MineCar, feel free to add some wagons!

There are two ways to spawn the wagons:

  • 1-use the spawn eggs in the Creative Inventory
  • 2-use their respective items (couplers) to interact with the MineCar.

Note: The wagons can be attached to the MineCar using the wagon items (couplers), but NOT the spawn eggs. You can find both in the Creative Inventory, just make sure you use the correct one.

Here are the wagons currently in this addon:

Passenger Wagon

  • carry 1 player/mob

Recipe:

Chest Wagon

  • has inventory

Recipe:

Double Chest Wagon

  • has MOAR inventory

Recipe:

Hopper Wagon

  • has a hopper

Recipe:

TNT Wagon

  • has a TNT
  • explodes due to fall damage, nearby explosions, or fire

Recipe:

Flatbed Wagon

  • carry up to 2 entities when deployed
  • can be deployed/retracted

Recipe:

Wagon Teleportation Feature:

  • the wagons will teleport to their parent MineCar if they are too far away (about 14-15 blocks)
  • since it uses an “ID” system, it is recommended not to have too many caravans in one world

An example caravan that you could make:

Installation note:

  • You do NOT need any experiments.
  • Minimum game version 1.16.
  • Supports English & Chinese languages.
  • This addon does NOT use PLAYER.JSON, it is compatible with all addons!
