Minecraft 1.21.11 Snapshot 25w41a is the first experimental release of the upcoming Minecraft 1.21.11 version. This snapshot introduces the new Nautilus & Zombie Nautilus, a new weapon called Spear (with two attack types), a new enchantment exclusive to the Spear, reworked Zombie Horse mechanics, additional interface and graphics updates, and a new command: /stopwatch <id> create/query/restart/remove — which allows players to create and manage real-time timers.

Features:

1. Nautilus & Zombie Nautilus (New)

  • Nautilus is a neutral aquatic creature found in oceans. It can be tamed using pufferfish or a bucket of pufferfish and can be ridden when equipped with a saddle.
  • While riding a Nautilus, players gain the Breath of the Nautilus effect — temporarily stopping oxygen depletion underwater.
  • Zombie Nautilus often spawn with Drowned riding them and holding spears. When the Drowned is killed, the Zombie Nautilus becomes neutral and can be tamed.
  • Both Nautilus and Zombie Nautilus can wear Nautilus Armor (Copper, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Netherite) to increase their defense.

2. New Weapon: Spear

  • The Spear can be crafted from materials such as Wood, Stone, Copper, Iron, Gold, Diamond, and Netherite.
  • Two attack modes:
    • Jab (Quick Thrust): Press the action button — deals light damage with knockback and a short cooldown.
    • Charge Attack: Hold the action button to charge power — damage scales with distance, player speed, and aim; can knock back or dismount riders.
  • Spears have a minimum attack range — being too close to a target causes no damage.
  • Some mobs (Zombies, Husks, Piglins, etc.) can now use Spears and perform Charge attacks.

3. New Enchantment: Lunge

  • Exclusive to Spears. When performing a Jab, it propels the player forward (a dash effect).
  • Higher levels increase the dash distance.
  • Using Lunge consumes extra durability from the Spear.

4. Zombie Horse Updates

  • Zombie Horses can now spawn naturally at night in plains and savanna biomes, often with Zombies riding them.
  • When the rider is defeated, the Zombie Horse becomes neutral and tamable; it can be healed using red mushrooms.
  • Like other undead mobs, Zombie Horses burn in daylight unless equipped with horse armor.

5. Interface & Graphics Updates

  • The Video Settings menu has been refreshed — the “Fast”, “Fancy”, and “Fabulous!” options are now graphic presets for easier configuration.
  • Cloud movement is now synchronized for all players on a server.
  • Mipmaps now apply to all blocks (like vines, leaves, rails), improving visual quality at distance.
  • General rendering optimizations provide smoother performance and higher FPS.

6. New Command: /stopwatch

  • Command syntax: /stopwatch <id> create/query/restart/remove.
  • Creates a real-time stopwatch independent of game ticks.
  • Can be used with execute commands to compare real-world elapsed time (with second-level precision).

7. Advancements & Minor Tweaks

  • New advancements for Nautilus, Zombie Nautilus, Zombie Horse, and the Breath of the Nautilus effect.
  • Minor adjustments: items no longer “shake” when low on durability; Netherite Armor body slot protection increased (related to Nautilus Armor).
  • Mipmaps now consistently apply to blocks that previously lacked them.
