Minecraft 1.21.11 Snapshot 25w44a introduces two new mobs: the Camel Husk (an undead variant of the camel, similar to the Zombie Horse) and the Parched (a dried-out skeleton variant). These two mobs make the Desert biome more challenging. In addition, this snapshot also brings graphics and environment updates including Fog, Clouds, Water, and Filtering improvements. Features:
New Mobs
- Camel Husk
- Undead variant of the camel, similar to the Zombie Horse.
- Spawns at light level 0 in deserts, with two riders: a husk (with a spear) and a parched.
- Does not spawn in caves; follows husk spawning rules.
- Immune to sunlight and hostile when ridden by hostile mobs.
- Becomes persistent when ridden by a player; despawns otherwise.
- Favorite food: rabbit foot (cannot be bred).
- Functions as a regular camel when used as a mount.
- Parched
- New desert variant of the skeleton.
- Spawns at light level 0 in deserts, replacing some skeletons.
- Does not spawn in caves; immune to sunlight.
- Shoots arrows of Weakness with slower fire rate (like the Bogged).
Environment & Graphics Updates
- Added attributes for fog, clouds, sky, and water distances:
- minecraft:visual/water_fog_start_distance – underwater fog start distance.
- minecraft:visual/fog_start_distance – general fog start distance (affected by weather).
- minecraft:visual/fog_end_distance – distance where fog reaches max density.
- minecraft:visual/sky_fog_end_distance – max density distance for sky fog.
- minecraft:visual/cloud_fog_end_distance – max density distance for cloud fog.
- minecraft:visual/cloud_color – defines cloud color; fully transparent disables clouds.
- Nether fog is no longer tied to render distance; consistent from 10 to 96 blocks.
Game Rules
- minecraft:fire_spread_radius_around_player – controls fire spread distance near players.
- 0 disables fire spread.
- -1 allows spreading regardless of players.
- Old rules doFireTick and allowFireTicksAwayFromPlayer removed.
- All game rules renamed to resource locations (snake case) and organized in a registry.
Options & Visual Settings
- Anisotropic Filtering – enhances block clarity at angles; options: off, 2x, 4x, 8x.
- Chunk Fade Time – controls fade-in time of chunks when loading.
Gameplay & Mechanics
- Lunge Enchantment – reduced hunger cost (1–3 points) and now consumes 1 durability per use.
- Horses, mules, donkeys, and camels no longer sink in water when ridden.
- Parrots can mimic zombie nautilus, zombie horse, camel husk, and parched sounds.
Technical Changes
- Support added for KQueue on macOS (improved network performance).
- Chunk rendering now uses GPU-based sprite animations for smoother visuals.
- Sprites now animated on GPU instead of CPU for better performance.
