Minecraft 1.21.9 Snapshot 25w32a is a minor update designed to test new features, fix bugs, and make improvements before the official release of version 1.21.9. It introduces new blocks such as Copper Bars, Copper Chain, Copper Lantern, and Copper Torch (Green Torch). The new text component feature with the “object” type allows displaying sprites from an atlas, supporting enhanced interface creativity and resource pack development. This version also addresses 50 issues related to rendering, GUI, interactions (such as shelves and Copper Golem), and game effects.

Features:

Blocks

  • Copper Bars: Copper-made bars for decoration or fencing. They oxidize over time (changing color through stages: unaffected, exposed, weathered, fully oxidized).
  • Copper Chain: Copper chains for hanging lanterns, bells, or signs. They oxidize, altering their color.
  • Copper Lantern: Copper lanterns emitting green light, placeable on the floor or hung under blocks. They also oxidize over time.
  • Copper Torch: Copper torches emitting green light (level 15), used for lighting or decoration. They oxidize, changing color.

Effects and Tags

  • Particle Effect: Added copper_fire_flame particle, creating a copper flame effect for Copper Torches and Lanterns.
  • Block Tags:
    • #bars: Includes all bar blocks (like Copper Bars).
    • #chains: Includes all chain blocks (like Copper Chain).
    • #lanterns: Includes all lantern blocks (like Copper Lantern).
  • Item Tags: Same as block tags, applying to items of Copper Bars, Copper Chain, and Copper Lantern.
  • New Text Component:
    • object type displays images (sprites) from an atlas, sized 8×8 pixels.
    • Example: Shows a porkchop icon (item/porkchop) from the minecraft:blocks atlas.
    • Players can view atlas contents using the F3+S key combination.

Changes

Blocks

  • Copper Golem Statues:
    • Always drop as items when mined or pushed by a piston.
  • Copper Trapdoor: No major changes, still functions as a copper trapdoor.
  • Iron Chain: Renamed from “Chain” to “Iron Chain” to distinguish from Copper Chain.
  • Shelf: Items on shelves are repositioned for better appearance.

Data and Resource Pack

  • Entity Data:
    • For copper_golem, the weather state (weather_state) now uses string names instead of numbers:
      • unaffected (not affected).
      • exposed (exposed).
      • weathered (weathered).
      • oxidized (fully oxidized).
  • Loot Table:
    • Added a loot table for sweet berry bushes (sweet_berry_bush), dropping items when harvested by interaction.
  • Resource Pack:
    • Upgraded to version 65.1.
    • Added new sprites for copper blocks: copper_bars, copper_chain, copper_lantern, copper_torch, and their oxidized states (exposed, weathered, oxidized).
  • Tags:
    • Added copper_torch to the #wall_post_override tag (allows placement on walls).
    • Added #chains, #bars, and #lanterns to the #mineable/pickaxe tag (mineable with a pickaxe).
