Better Smelters Addon (1.21) adds 11 tiers of upgraded furnaces crafted from vanilla materials and rare items, each smelting faster with better fuel efficiency (lower consumption = more smelts per fuel).

Features:

Furnaces work like vanilla ones manually but support full automation: inputs auto-pull from left container (chest/barrel/hopper), fuel from top, outputs push to right if space available. Oak Wood Furnace vanishes after brief use; Netherrack uses no fuel; Netherite crafts via Diamond/Amethyst Furnace.

Upgrade in place: Right-click the furnace with the upgrade item to evolve tiers instantly-no breaking/replacing.
