Mining sculk themed blocks can help you gain some XP. The sculk catalyst blocks, in specific, used to drop 20 XP upon being mined. But this was later changed in the 1.19.1 pre-6 update. From this version onwards, sculk catalysts were updated to drop only 5 XP instead of 20. Buffed Sculk Catalysts Mod (1.21.8, 1.20.1) reverts this change so that sculk catalyst will drop 20 XP in the newer versions of the game.
