Malum Mod (1.21.1, 1.20.1) is a magic-based mod centered around soul mechanics. You can collect souls from various living creatures and use them to transmute elements and create magical artifacts. As of now, the mod does not grant magical abilities, but by progressing within it, you can obtain solid sets of armor, weapons, tools, and magical artifacts.

The mod includes its own guidebook, which features a progression tree. Starting with the book and the first crafts, you’ll eventually build an altar and begin material transmutation. The guidebook is in English, but the mod itself is intuitive, and all crafts are clearly displayed. It also supports JEI. Despite having magical elements, the mod retains a somewhat vanilla feel—new equipment grants magical effects, such as bonuses to magic attack and defense.

By slaying mobs with a scythe or other advanced mod weapons, you’ll collect living souls, which come in different types and rarities. These will later be used in crafting and transformation processes.

  • Unique Equipment & Trinkets: The mod offers magical armor, tools, weapons, and trinkets, each with special effects.
  • Blight: A chaotic state of matter derived from reckless magic use, though ultimately harmless.

How to Get Started:

  • Create the guidebook—this requires finding a new ore.
  • Craft a scythe and start collecting souls.
  • Build an altar to create various magical artifacts, armor, and weapons following the progression tree.
