Neruina Mod (1.21.11, 1.20.1) can help you in situations where a block, mob, item, or even player causes a crash (game crash). This mod tries to track the problem that will cause the crash and attempts to keep the game running with minimal impact. If it’s a mob, it will kill it, dropping loot and inventory. If the cause is a block, the mod will limit it, but its inventory will remain accessible to you. If the cause is an item, the item will stop functioning but will remain in the game and can be used in crafting. If the cause is a player, the player will be kicked immediately.

Features:

Ticking Crash Handling

  • Entities
    • Problematic entities are suspended and stop ticking.
    • They can still be interacted with, but cannot be attacked.
  • Blocks & Block Entities
    • Block Entities / Tile Entities stop ticking.
    • Block inventories remain accessible.
  • Items
    • Items stop ticking in inventories.
    • They remain usable in recipes and normal gameplay.
  • Players
    • If a player causes a ticking crash, they are kicked instead.

Available Actions

  • What Is This? – Opens the Neruina wiki.
  • Copy Crash – Copies the crash cause to clipboard.
  • Teleport – Teleports to the ticking entity.
  • Try Resume – Attempts to resume ticking.
  • Kill – Immediately removes the ticking entity.
  • Report (1.19+) – Creates a GitHub issue automatically.

Persistence

  • Tracked ticking entities persist across server restarts.
  • On world start, all tracked issues are broadcast.

Ticking Threshold Protection

  • Prevents server lockups by forcing a crash when too many exceptions occur.
  • A detailed report is generated with recovery instructions.
  • Default: 10 exceptions within 5 minutes.
  • Threshold is configurable.

Configuration

  • log_level
    • operators – Only operators receive broadcasts (default).
    • everyone – All players receive broadcasts.
    • disabled – No broadcasts.
  • ticking_exception_threshold
    • Maximum allowed exceptions before forced crash.
    • Default: 10, -1 disables the limit.
  • auto_kill_ticking_entities
    • If enabled, ticking entities are killed instead of suspended.
    • Default: false.
