Almost all of the blocks in the game perform something called “random ticks”. These are occasional checks that the game performs to see if the block has received any sort of update. The game developers have quite optimized this, but if you have a large number of blocks, the amount of stress can add up pretty quickly, especially on servers. For some reason, even blocks like stairs perform random ticks. No Random Ticks Mod (1.21.1, 1.20.1), as the name suggests, is here to prevent that. This mod prevents around 50% of all the blocks in the game from randomly ticking. The issues caused due to this are minor, and it helps improve server performance.
