Tectonic Mod (26.1.1, 1.20.1) – Improved Biomes

Tectonic Mod is a worldgen datapack and mod that adds more interesting terrain features, improved vegetation and 25+ new biomes and biome variants. This wiki aims to provide more information on the features of this pack as well as other information related to Tectonic (including how to install it and which packs are compatible with it).

Features:

Mountain Ranges

• Mountains now extend for upwards of thousands of blocks long and hundreds of blocks wide. They can frequently reach heights above y=200.
• Mountains will no longer generate near inland or have “saddle valleys” around them.

Oceanside Cliffs

• Cliffs generate where terrain would be generated a steep drop from coastal terrain to ocean.
• Cliffs tend to form large overhangs.
• A special variant of cliffs, the Icy Cliffs, has large ice stalagmites and stalagtites underneath overhangs.

Underground Rivers

• Underground Rivers generate when a river is unable to generate due to terrain being too high (such as where a mountain range is)
• The rivers may stretch for thousands of blocks and may have divergent paths in them.
• There are currently 6 underground river biomes for you to find.

Underground River Biomes

• Lush River
  Moss and Glow Berries hang from the ceiling of this biome. This biome (and all others with the exception of the Coral and Ancient river) have a gravel floor instead of stone floor.
• Dripstone River
  Dripstone clusters and pillars fill this biome.
• Lantern River
  Lanterns on chains hang from the ceiling of this biome.
• Icy River
  The top layer of water in this biome is replaced with ice.
• Coral River
  The floor of this biome is sand, and coral/sea pickles also generate.
• Ancient River
  All stone in this biome is replaced with Deepslate. Soul Lanterns hang from the ceiling, and there is no special floor block.
• Oceanside Cliff Biomes
• Icy Cliffs
  Ice stalagmites and stalagtites generator under the overhangs in this biome. The top layers of the biome are snow blocks instead of stone.
• Cold Cliffs
  Identical to the Stony Cliffs, but with water colors matching the Cold Ocean biome.
• Lukewarm Cliffs
  Identical to the Stony Cliffs, but with water colors matching the Lukewarm Ocean biome.
• Sandstone Cliffs
  Stone in this biome is replaced with Sandstone, and the top layers of the biome are Sand.
