Start by punching down a tree to obtain wood. Then, craft the wood into planks and use them to make a wooden pickaxe. Once you have the wooden pickaxe, mine some cobblestones to make stone tools. However, if you find this process too fast and want to add some twists to make it more realistic and believable, you can try using the True Start Addon. True Start Addon (1.20, 1.19) modifies the game mechanics to make the progression more challenging and realistic. Give it a try!

Features:

Log & Planks:

  • Now you can’t just put a log on your crafting grid to craft planks
  • You need a new block called Chopping Block.
  • But this block needs an axe to be used!

  • You also can’t just turn planks into sticks
  • You need a new item called a Saw
  • But this item is made of iron!

Gravel/Flint:

  • After breaking gravel to get flint:

1. Turn the vanilla flint into knappable flint on the crafting grid

2. Knap (place) the knappable flint on hard blocks! (Stones/Metals)

  • 75% chance for success crush into 1-2 Flint Shard-s
  • 25% chance of failed crush
  • It can be turned back into vanilla flint

Stick:

  • Break Leaves/Dead Bush to get Stick!

Plants:

After getting flint shard & stick:

  • 1. Craft a Flint Knife

  • 2. Cut some Grass/Fern/Vines to get Plant Fibers!
  • 3. Craft a Plant String from 3 Plant Fibers

Chopping Log:

After getting flint shards, sticks & plant strings:

  • 1. Craft a Flint Axe
  • 2. Strip a log into a stripped log

  • 3. Place the stripped log on the chopping block
  • 4. Chop it into planks

That’s how to get planks!

Sawing:

When you have iron ingots:

  • 1. Craft a Saw

  • 2. Use it to craft planks & sticks

Rocks & Stick:

  • They’re scattered everywhere on the ground!

  • 1. Can be picked up by breaking it/right-clicking it

  • 2. Can be turned into the respective stone types if you have 4 of them

  • Cobblestone- Andesite – Diorite – Granite – Sandstone – Red Sandstone

  • Obtained by Knapping (knappable) flint on hard blocks (stones/metals)

Plant Fiber

  • Obtained by Cutting grass/fern/vine with Knives

  • It can also be smelted into string on campfires/furnace

  • Or just burn your feet

Macuahuitl

  • The early-game weapon, as strong as a stone sword but it has weaker durability than a wooden sword

Clay Making:

Clay Tool

  • Used for crafting clay brick…

Clay Brick

  • The true form of a clay ball is made with clay tool and can be smelted into brick

Clay Flower Pot

  • An unsmelted version of the flower pot so smelt it into a flower pot.

Torches:

Unlit Torches [Normal, Redstone & Soul]

  • The result of the vanilla respective torch recipes are the Unlit Torches, not the vanilla torches

Matchbox

  • Used for lifting up the unlit torches…

Glowstones

  • Used for crafting the normal torch without the matchbox…
