Upgrade Aquatic Mod (1.21.1, 1.20.1) – New Fish, Sea Monsters and More

Upgrade Aquatic Mod goes back to the parts of Minecraft that the 1.13 water update left thin and fills them in: oceans, rivers, and the insomnia system behind phantoms. Its headline addition is the Thrasher, a shark like predator that hunts with sonar, drags what it catches in its jaws, and drops material used in making a trident. Around that sit ocean ravines with prismarine coral and nautilus mobs, renewable sand from bubble columns under sandstone, and a set of small changes to vanilla behaviour.

Features:

• The Thrasher is a shark like hunter that locates prey with sonar and thrashes whatever it catches.
• Killing a Thrasher yields crafting material used for the trident, which gives the deep ocean a reason to be dangerous.
• Ocean ravines generate on the sea floor and bring prismarine coral and nautilus mobs with them.
• Sand becomes renewable through bubble columns placed beneath sandstone.
• Drowned can drop any coral except prismarine and dead coral, so coral no longer means a long reef hunt.
• Dispensers gain the ability to scoop a fish into a bucket as well as release one.
• Phantoms only go after players who have actually stayed awake, so the insomnia rule becomes predictable.
• Conduits accept any prismarine block in their frame, including stairs, slabs and the mod’s own variants.
• The Barnacle, one of the creatures voted on at MineCon 2017 but never added, turns up here.
• New fish and sea creatures fill out the ocean without straying from the look of the base game.

How to Use:

1. Install Forge or NeoForge for the Minecraft version you play, then drop the jar into .minecraft/mods.
2. Start a fresh world, or travel a long way out, because ocean ravines and the new biomes only appear in new chunks.
3. Take a boat out over deep ocean and listen. The Thrasher makes a sonar sound before it closes in.
4. Fight it in open water with a decent weapon, then collect the drops to work towards a trident.
5. Place a soul sand bubble column under sandstone if you want a repeatable sand supply near your base.
6. Sleep normally to keep phantoms away, since they now only track players who have stayed up.
