The Winter Zombie Outbreak pack transforms the familiar Minecraft world into a frozen, post-apocalyptic landscape, where players must contend with a new viral threat. This experience requires Experimental Features to be enabled, introducing a scenario where an ancient virus, once frozen in ice, has been unleashed and mutated by the cold. The world becomes a harsh, unforgiving wasteland, with resources scarce and remnants of civilization fighting for survival against an ever-present danger.

As players navigate this desolate environment, they will encounter several distinct types of infected. Normal infected zombies, while slower than their vanilla counterparts, possess an increased detection range and evolve over time, gaining speed, damage, and reach every ten days. The pack also introduces slow-moving Crawlers, which are easier to dispatch, and the dangerous TNT Zombie that appears after a hundred days, placing explosives when it gets close. Players will also face the possibility of infection themselves, turning into one of the undead upon death. To aid in survival, the pack provides new craftable tools and weapons, including a Stone Splitting Axe, Silver Shovel, Netherite Spike, Snow Shovel, Stone Scythe, and Golden Halberd, alongside items like Tin Boots and components for building traps.
