In the vanilla survival game, most players opt to strip mine to obtain ores. The most common way of strip mining is to mine a 2×1 hole. This exposes six adjacent blocks to the player. Simple Drills Mod (1.21.4, 1.20.1) introduces a way to expose more blocks without much time and effort. This mod introduces a set of tools, called “drills”. These drills work the same as pickaxes, but mining a block using a drill will break a 3×3 area of blocks. This means, you can perform your usual strip mining operation, but with a 3×3 hole that will expose a total of twelve new blocks, without requiring any more time and effort.

Features:

  • Strip mining usually exposes only 6 blocks (2×1 tunnel).
  • Simple Drills adds drill tools that mine 3×3 areas.
  • Functions like a pickaxe but breaks a larger region.
  • Allows 3×3 tunnels exposing 12 blocks with the same effort as normal mining.
