Do you want to see more underground cave content in the game? If the answer is yes, Subsurface Mod (1.21.11, 1.20.1) is for you. This mod introduces eleven new cave biomes into the game. Nine of these can be found in the Overworld, while the other two are exclusive to the Nether dimension. These new cave biomes will make cave exploration a lot more fun and interesting.

Features:

  • Adds 11 new underground cave dimensions.
  • 9 overworld cave biomes and two Nether exclusive ones.

Icicle Caves

  • Spawn under snowy non-mountain biomes.
  • Features:
    • Icicles on ceiling and floor
    • Ice patches, with blue ice if replacing deepslate
    • Frozen aquifers
  • Warning: Placing torches may melt ice and wash torches away.

Sand Caves

  • Spawn under desert biomes.
  • Features:
    • Patches of sand and sandstone
    • Some sand may float, beware of cave-ins

Swamp Caves

  • Spawn under swamp and mangrove swamp biomes.
  • Features:
    • Mushrooms, dead bushes, and vines
    • Patches of clay, mud, and water
    • Various dripleafs
    • Aquifers contain lily pads and seagrass

Underground Forest

  • Spawn under biomes that generate oak trees.
  • Features:
    • Grass-covered ground
    • Mushrooms and vines
    • Patches of coarse dirt
    • Oak trees and glow lichen on leaves

Coral Caves

  • Spawn under warm ocean biomes, only in aquifers and water caves.
  • Features:
    • Coral, kelp, and seagrass

Foliage Caves

  • Spawn under jungle biomes.
  • Features:
    • Grass and ferns on ground
    • Jungle bushes, jungle trees, mega jungle trees, and bamboo
    • Mushrooms, vines, and glow lichen on ceilings of large caves
    • Aquifers made of mud with seagrass
    • Caves near surface may have skylights

Fungal Caves

  • Spawn under mushroom island biomes.
  • Features:
    • Ground covered in mycelium
    • Large and small mushrooms, hanging mushroom roots, wall mushrooms
    • Patches of glow lichen

Mesa Caves

  • Spawn under mesa biomes.
  • Features:
    • Patches of red sand and red sandstone
    • Colored terracotta and terracotta plateaus

Underground Taiga

  • Spawn under biomes that generate spruce trees.
  • Features:
    • Grass and ferns on ground
    • Mushrooms, vines, coarse dirt patches
    • Spruce trees, mega spruce trees, sweet berries, pumpkins, mossy cobblestone rocks
    • Glow lichen on leaves

Soul Canyons

  • Spawn in the Nether in Nether Wastes and Soul Sand Valleys.
  • Features:
    • Ground covered in soul sand and soul soil
    • Nether wart, soul fire, fossils, giant nether warts
    • Weeping vines and nether wart blocks on ceilings

Quartz Canyons

  • Spawn in the Nether in Crimson and Warped Forests.
  • Features:
    • Giant quartz crystals
    • Quartz ore in surrounding netherrack
