You are moving down a cave, but the cave is too deep for you to light up before going down; right now, you need something that can light the way from a distance. Maybe TorchBow Mod will help you, and you will have a bow that shoots torches. You will quickly light your path from afar or stand from above and light up the end of the cave with just one shot of the arrow. You can also craft a cluster arrow that lets you light up a large area without having to place torches one by one.
