Basalt blocks were introduced into the game in the nether update. They are mostly found in the basalt delta biome in the nether. Although these blocks have a unique appearance, they simply cannot be used in most builds because of their lack of variations. The vanilla game only has three different basalt block variants and they are very similar to one another. Basalt Blocks Mod (1.21.1, 1.20.1) is here to change that. This mod introduces a collection of new basalt blocks and other basalt items that you can use in your builds. This includes multiple basalt block variants, doors, trapdoors, buttons, pressure plates and more.
