Pommel Held Item Models Mod (1.21.1, 1.20.1) is a mod for Minecraft that allows resource pack creators to replace the model of an item they are holding, similar to how Minecraft handles spyglass or trident.

Features:

  • Item predicates that Pommel adds to the resource pack:
    • pommel:is_held – item is being held (first person or third person)
    • pommel:first_third_person – item is being held by the first person or third person (value 0.5 for first person, 1.0 for third person)
    • pommel:is_offhand – item is being held in the secondary hand (off hand)
    • pommel:is_fixed – item is in an item frame or similar fixed render type
    • pommel:is_head – item is being worn in the head slot (helmet/head)
    • pommel:is_ground – item is lying on the ground as an entity item
    • pommel:is_projectile – Item has been thrown (projectile), replacing the old predicate is_thrown
    • pommel:is_thrown – The old predicate used to identify thrown items still exists for backward compatibility
    • pommel:is_using – Item currently in use (holding the use/RMB button, e.g., drink, eat, draw a bow)
    • pommel:item_use – Number of use ticks for the item currently in use (from 0 to 1 based on use time)
    • pommel:is_submerged – Item is submerged in water (minecraft:water); The predicate remains submerged even when out of water.
    • pommel:is_enchanted – whether the item is enchanted or not (sets value to 1 when enchanted)
    • pommel:is_misc_entity_holding – the item is being held by another entity (e.g., Villager, Witch, Panda, Fox)
  • This mod runs on the client side, primarily serving resource pack creators, but regular players can still benefit if they use resource packs that leverage Pommel.
