The Beneath Mod (1.12.2, 1.11.2) – A Dangerous World for Ores
🌐 Good news — we've translated this article into other languages!
Or pick the one you like:
The Beneath Mod adds a huge, dark dimension designed for mining. This new world is highly configurable, allowing you to change many of its rules. To enter this dimension, you must use a special Teleporter block, which does not have a default crafting recipe and must be obtained in other ways.

Features:
- Explore a massive new dimension that is as tall as the Overworld’s entire height limit.
- All mobs that spawn in this dimension have double health and deal double damage.
- The mod includes a built-in ore generator that you can customize using JSON files. This can also be disabled if you prefer to use another mod for ore generation.
- Choose from different modes to change the dimension’s difficulty:
- Grue: Dangerous Grue monsters will spawn in dark areas if you stay there too long.
- Darkness: You will take damage just by being in the dark.
- None: Turns off the damage from darkness.
- Control how often dungeons generate or turn them off completely.
- Mysterious beings hide in the shadows, ready to pull you into the darkness.
- Hear unsettling sounds while exploring the dimension.
- You can configure the teleporter to travel between The Beneath and other dimensions, not just back to the Overworld.
Commands:
A command is available to reload the configuration files without needing to restart Minecraft. This is helpful for quickly testing changes to ore generation.
/beneath reloadAll: Reloads both ore and decoration config files./beneath reloadOres: Reloads only the ore generation config file./beneath reloadDeco: Reloads only the block decoration config file.
