Depths Update Mod backports the famous Caves and Cliffs features into older Minecraft. It lowers the bottom of the world so you have much more room to dig. The mod changes how the underground looks by adding dark stone and huge cave biomes. You can now mine deeper and find new blocks that normally only exist in the newer game.

Features:

Deeper Worlds: Lowers the bottom of the world down to negative 64 coordinates.
New Cave Biomes: Generates big Lush Caves and dangerous Dripstone Caves underground.
Amethyst Geodes: Spawns round rooms full of shiny purple crystals hidden inside the rock.
Changes the normal stone below zero into dark Deepslate blocks.
Adds Deepslate versions of all the normal ores so they match the deep underground.
Brings Copper ore into the game for you to mine and smelt.
Lets you build with new Deepslate stairs and slabs to decorate your base.
