Sodium Shadowy Path Blocks Mod (26.1.1, 1.20.1) – Smooth Lighting Effect

Optifine offers a feature where certain blocks (eg: path blocks) will have a dark gradient around their edges which gives them a three-dimensional effect. Unfortunately, Optifine is not compatible with the Fabric mod-loader. Sodium Shadowy Path Blocks Mod makes this feature accessible to players using the Fabric mod-loader. With this mod installed, your path blocks will look much more detailed as they have a new added depth to their appearance. This can especially be notices when you come across villages, where path blocks are commonly found.

Sodium Shadowy Path Blocks (SSPB): SSPB is a Minecraft mod designed as an addon to Sodium, focusing on enhancing the lighting aesthetics of non-fluid non-full blocks, like dirt paths, by reintroducing vanilla-like smooth lighting. This addresses an issue where such blocks have dark shading when adjacent to full blocks, which Sodium fixes.

Customizable Settings: SSPB offers several settings for customization, allowing players to tailor their lighting experience:

• Shadowyness: Adjust the intensity of the shadow effect caused by “bugged” lighting on a scale of 0-100%, with a default setting of 85%.
• Only Affect Path Blocks: Enable this option to restrict the “bugged” lighting correction to path blocks exclusively, leaving Sodium’s fixed lighting for other non-full blocks such as farmland, slabs, stairs, fences, etc. By default, this option is disabled.
• Use Vanilla Lighting for Path Blocks: Opt for a lighting algorithm that replicates vanilla accuracy for path blocks, overriding the “Shadowyness” setting. This is particularly useful when modded path block rendering is present (e.g., connected textures). To enable this, you’ll need Indium and Fabric API (or Quilted Fabric API with Quilt). Otherwise, it defaults to off.
