Hostility Level (Neutral)

A cave spider is a neutral mob. The term mob is short for mobile and is used to refer to all living, moving creatures in the game such as chickens, creepers, and cave spiders. Because a cave spider is a neutral mob, it will only attack you in Survival mode during the day if you attack the cave spider first. A cave spider will always attack you at night in Survival mode. It will never attack you in Creative mode.

Health Points

In Minecraft, a cave spider has 6 hearts  for health. This gives a cave spider 12 health points (because 1 heart = 2 health points). To kill a cave spider, you need to inflict 12 points of damage to the cave spider.

Where to Find Cave Spiders

Cave spiders are blue-ish gray and smaller than a regular spider. A cave spider poisons its victims so if you get attacked by a cave spider, it will give you the Poison effect. You can find cave spiders in monster spawners in abandoned mineshafts.

If you are having trouble finding a cave spider, you can summon a cave spider using a cheat or you can use a spawn egg.

Weapon

A cave spider does not carry a weapon.

Attack Method

In Minecraft, a cave spider will jump towards you and try to hit you. If the cave spider hits you in an attack, it will give you the Poison effect. Once poisoned, the hearts in your health bar will turn from red to yellow and you will see green particle effects floating around you. You will suffer damage every 1.25 seconds until the Poison effect wears off.

TIP: You can drink milk to remove the Poison effect.

Drops

When you kill a cave spider in Minecraft, it will drop string or spider eyes.

Make sure you pick up the dropped items before they disappear. These are useful and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.

Experience Points

As you play the game, you will gain experience. The most common way to gain experience is by killing mobs. When a mob is killed you will see tiny green and yellow balls appear and move towards you.

These orbs represent experience points. When you kill a cave spider, you will gain 5 experience points.
