Hostility Level (Hostile)
A piglin is a hostile mob. The term mob is short for mobile and is used to refer to all living, moving creatures in the game such as chickens, creepers, and piglins. Because a piglin is a hostile mob, it will attack you in Survival mode but not Creative mode.
However, if you are wearing any piece of gold armor, the piglin changes from a Hostile mob to a Neutral mob and won’t attack you unless you provoke it (ie: you attack it first).
Health Points
In Minecraft, a piglin has 8 hearts
for health. This gives a piglin 16 health points (because 1 heart = 2 health points). To kill a piglin, you need to inflict 16 points of damage to the piglin.
Where to Find Piglins
In Minecraft, you can find piglins in the Crimson Forest biome or in the Bastion Remnant, both of which are in the Nether.

Bastion Remnant

If you haven’t been to the Nether, you need to build a nether portal to take you to the Nether. When you walk through a nether portal, it will transport you between the Overworld and the Nether.
This is what a nether portal looks like:

If you are having trouble finding a piglin, you can summon a piglin using a cheat or you can use a spawn egg.
Weapon
The piglin is armed with either a golden sword or a crossbow.

Attack Method
In Minecraft, a piglin will attack differently depending on the weapon it is holding. If it is carrying a golden sword as a weapon, it will move towards you and strike you with its sword. If it is carrying a crossbow, it will shoot an arrow at you.
However, if you are wearing any piece of gold armor, the piglin changes from a Hostile mob to a Neutral mob and won’t attack you unless you provoke it (ie: you attack it first).
A baby piglin is Passive and will not attack you (even if you attack it first).
Behavior
Piglins like anything made of gold and love to wear golden armor.
Piglins will pick up golden items and examine it in their Left hand. If they switch the item to their Right hand, it becomes their new weapon (which can change how much damage they inflict when they attack you). Other times, they will store the item in their inventory. If the item is golden armor, the piglin will put it on.
You can barter with a pilglin. See our tutorial on how to barter with a piglin to learn more.
Piglins are afraid of soul fire and soul fire items such as soul torches, soul lanterns, and soul campires:

Piglins are also afraid of zombified piglins.

Drops
When you kill a piglin in Minecraft, there is a small chance that the piglin may drop the weapon or golden armor that is naturally spawned with:

The piglin will also drop certain gold items that it has picked such as golden apples, enchanted golden apples, golden carrots, gold horse armor, golden shovel, golden pickaxe, golden axe, golden hoe, gold ore and blocks of gold:

But the piglin WILL NOT DROP the gold ingot, gold nuggets or raw porkchops that it has picked up:

Make sure you pick up any dropped items before they disappear. They are useful and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.
Experience Points
As you play the game, you will gain experience. The most common way to gain experience is by killing mobs. When a mob is killed you will see tiny green and yellow balls appear and move towards you.

These orbs represent experience points. When you kill a piglin, you will gain 5 experience points.
Special Skills
The piglin has some special skills that should be noted:
- The piglin can pick up any golden item off the ground.
- The piglin can pick up raw porkchop off the ground to use for food.
- The piglin can equip any piece of golden armor that it picks up off the ground.
- The piglin can barter with a player by accepting Gold Ingot and then throwing back another item in exchange.
