In this tutorial, we will show you How To Install Skin Packs on Minecraft PE (Pocket Edition). This tutorial comes in two parts: .MCPack and .Zip, .Rar.

.MCPACK file

This is the easiest skin pack format for Minecraft PE – one tap and Minecraft imports it for you. Here is how to install a skin pack in .mcpack format:

  • Download the skin pack in .mcpack format from a trusted source.
  • Open the folder that contains the downloaded file.
  • Tap the .mcpack file. The system will automatically send it to Minecraft PE.
    • If your phone cannot open the file, we recommend installing File Manager (Google Play).
    • Open File Manager, find the skin pack file, and tap to activate it. Easy!
  • Minecraft PE will launch and start importing the skin pack. You may see a black screen for a few seconds – wait until the import is done.
  • Open Minecraft PE, go to the main menu, tap the coat hanger icon (Profile / Dressing Room).
  • Select an empty character slot, tap Edit Character, and find the new pack under “Owned”. Pick the skin you want and tap Equip.

.ZIP .RAR file

Some skin packs come in ZIP or RAR format. These are regular archives, so installation takes a little more time than MCPACK. Let’s jump right into the instructions:

  • First of all, make sure Minecraft Pocket Edition is installed and updated to a recent version.
  • Download the skin pack archive you want. In the example below, we will install a skin pack in .zip format.
  • For the next steps you will need a good explorer so you can unpack the archive. We recommend File Manager (Google Play). Downloaded files are usually in the “Download” folder.
  • Using the explorer, unpack the downloaded archive. Extract it with the functions of the File Manager program.
  • Open the folder created after extracting the archive.
  • A skin pack usually contains 1 folder inside (with skins.json, manifest.json and the skin .png files).
  • Highlight the skin pack folder and tap Copy.
  • Open the following folder: /games/com.mojang/. Use File Manager: open internal storage, games folder, then com.mojang folder. Here are the files related to Minecraft PE. Full list:
    • behavior_packs – Behavior packs (not used for skins).
    • minecraftpe – We do not recommend touching this folder.
    • minecraftWorlds – Your saved worlds.
    • resource_packs – Textures (not used for skins).
    • skin_packs – Skin packs. Paste your skin pack folder here.
  • Open the skin_packs folder and paste the skin pack folder you just copied. If the skin_packs folder does not exist yet, create a new folder with that exact name.
  • Launch Minecraft PE.
  • From the main menu, tap the coat hanger icon (Profile / Dressing Room).
  • Select an empty character slot, tap Edit Character, then scroll to the “Owned” section. Your new skin pack will appear there.
  • Pick the skin you want and tap Equip.
  • Done! Jump into a world and show off your new look.
